Rev's Reasonings - Ordinary Time

So we have gone to the next season and it is called ‘ordinary’ time marked by the colour green. For thirty odd weeks we have begun this season looking at the Father, Son and Holy Spirit beginning with the Holy Trinity. A mystery around the doctrine of the Trinity then summarised in a 1700 belief summary called a creed formulated with a group of early Christians in what is modern day Turkey.

So we start with God and end with Christ - the beginning and ending of the Christian faith who is part of the Trinity.

During this time at St Mary’s we have begun engaging with God to learn and to grow as individuals and as a community, and then learning what are the core things being followers of Jesus in July with our Patronal weekend (Patron - church named after being Mary Magdalene 19-20th July). We will be having a community BBQ on the Saturday and on the Sunday a visiting speaker.

In between we will have our holiday club for 5-10 year olds and some activities later in August for older young people.

Throughout August our services will be origin stories and character introduction from what was learnt with our children about Joseph going through September to November about the story of the children of Israel and what lessons we might learn from them as individuals and people.

Prior we will mark Harvest the end of September at a time called Creationtide with a bring and share lunch.

During the way we will in October be connecting with Black History Month, All Souls and All Saints, Rememberance.

Within all of this we hope for a baptism and confirmations reminding us that God is at work in us adding to our number representing within these services.

Come and See, Join in our adventure together with God this second half of 2025!

Peace be with you,

Rev Dean
