REV. DEAN PUSEY
Dean was born in Kings College Hospital in 1969 (A proud generation Xer!), Camberwell and grew up in Peckham for the first 7 years of his life with his parents and extended family as part of the Windrush generation. His story of faith began with the prayerful watch of his Grandmother where he visited as a child not far from this Church across Queens Rd! He was taken to Sunday School at Rye Lane Baptist Church where hearing about Jesus began with nurture. He attended a residential week from that Church where he committed his life to Jesus Christ in Cornwall which was at the age of 10 choosing to follow Christ but more importantly being found by Christ in 1980. Dean has witnessed first hand the turbulence of the 1980s and the rapid changes that continue to impact us in life and faith and trying to make sense of it all!
He lived in Catford until leaving to do his undergraduate Theology degree in Wales and meeting his wife Tracey. Returning to London he attended and served in the New Life Assembly Church until he left London in 1999. Tracey and Dean were married that year and attended and served in St Mark’s Church, Woking, part of the parish of St Peter’s Old Woking where they made their home and two children were born, Lily and Theo. During this time, Dean worked for the statutory and community sectors and two Dioceses of the Church of England, Southwark and St Alban’s developing work of life and faith with young people which continues to inform him in current ordained ministry. The parish of St Peter’s confirmed a calling in Dean that was realized and was nurtured further in the parishes of Holy Trinity, Knaphill, , and latterly as curate at Holy Trinity, Aldershot and trained at St Mellitus College, London and has a Masters degree as part of this.
There have been many twists and turns along the way both with joy and sorrow. God has been faithful in what you see today with the prayers and support of many. Dean, Tracey, Lily and Theo are excited about this next adventure in London particularly SE15 in 2024 and would value prayers and good vibes going forward as Vicar of St Mary’s, Peckham. A journey of coming home. Good things can and do come from Peckham!
Remembered are those who have gone on to be with God, the ancestors not least his Mother, Audrey, Grandparents, Lillian, Herbert, Winifred and Arthur, Great Aunts and Uncles particularly Ena, Cyril, Vera and Adelaide whose life and faith impacted and influenced the ministry forming before you as well as others both alive and departed.
