The Pre-School

St Mary’s Pre School is a well established Pre School that has been serving the local community for nearly 20 years. It is a positive, warm and inclusive school for up to 26 pre school aged children and provides an excellent, non-pressured environment for learning and development through play.

A member of the Pre School Learning Alliance, our constitution is mainly that outlined by them. We are closely linked to St Mary’s Church and are a Christian pre school. However, we positively welcome members from other faiths.

Our curriculum follows the Foundation Stage Programme. This covers six areas of learning for young children: personal and social development, communication and literacy, mathematics, knowledge and understanding of the world, physical development and creative development.

We are mainly funded by government Nursery Education Grants and for eligible children this covers all except £2 per week of fees. Fees for non eligible children remain low at £15 per week.

The Pre School employs special needs workers for qualifying special needs children and in the past we have received funding, indirectly from the local council, to employ staff to work with non qualifying special needs children. We are actively seeking funding to maintain our special needs work.

On our current staff are;

Play leader/SENCO - Lisa Barber

Teresa Wilmot
Gillian Gemmell
Jan Graham
Elizabeth Lee ( Student)
Tracy Israel-Hudson (Administrator)

We are open during term time: Mon-Fri 9.45am-12.15pm.
